Binance Withdrawal Under Review: What It Means
Why a Binance withdrawal can sit in review, how compliance and security holds differ from network delays, and what to check before contacting support.
A withdrawal that stops at "under review" is unsettling, particularly when the amount is significant. Before assuming the worst, it helps to separate the three very different things that can hold a withdrawal: a compliance review, a security cooldown, and an ordinary blockchain delay. Each has a different cause and a different resolution.

Three different kinds of hold
A compliance review happens inside the exchange. Binance Academy's AML material describes platforms running transaction monitoring and enhanced due diligence, with suspicious activity examples including large or unusual inflows and outflows, and a sudden spike in withdrawals from a typically low-activity account. It describes the sequence as flag, then investigate and restrict, then report and recover where applicable.
A security cooldown is triggered by account changes rather than by the transaction itself. Changing a password, resetting 2FA, adding a new withdrawal address, or logging in from an unfamiliar device commonly starts a waiting period before withdrawals resume. This is a protective delay, and it usually ends on its own.
A network delay happens after the exchange has already released the funds. At that point the transaction exists on the blockchain and is waiting for confirmations. If you have a transaction ID, this is the case you are in.
Identifying which of the three applies determines everything you do next.
What to check yourself
- Look for a transaction ID (TxID). If the withdrawal record shows one, the exchange has broadcast the transaction. Paste the TxID into a block explorer for that network to see its confirmation status. From that point, waiting is generally the only option — nobody can recall a broadcast transaction.
- Check the withdrawal status wording. "Processing", "under review", and "pending confirmation" are not the same state. Note the exact term shown.
- Review recent account changes. If you changed a password, email, phone number, or 2FA method in the previous days, a cooldown is the most likely explanation.
- Confirm the destination address and network. An address that is correct but on the wrong network is a separate and more serious problem. Our guide to withdrawal addresses and address checks explains what to verify before sending.
- Check whether the restriction is broader. If other functions are also limited, you may be looking at an account-level review rather than a single withdrawal.
What not to do
Do not submit the same withdrawal repeatedly. Duplicate requests can compound a review rather than speeding it up, and in the worst case you send funds twice.
Do not accept help from anyone who contacts you privately about a stuck withdrawal. Withdrawal problems are a well-known hook for phishing. No legitimate support agent needs your password, 2FA code, or recovery phrase.
Do not change security settings while waiting, unless you suspect a compromise. Ironically, those changes are exactly what starts a fresh cooldown.
When to contact support
Contact the official Support Center when there is no TxID, the status has not changed for an unusually long time for that method, or the account shows a notice asking for action. Include the withdrawal time, asset, network, amount, destination address, and the exact status wording. Keep it to one thread.
Support cannot always explain the reasoning behind an ongoing compliance review, and staff generally cannot commit to a completion time. If the hold turns out to be account-level rather than transaction-level, our guide to a restricted Binance account covers that situation.
Reducing the chance of a hold
- Complete verification fully before moving larger amounts, so a routine check does not become a blocker at the worst moment.
- Add and confirm withdrawal addresses in advance rather than at the moment you need them.
- Avoid making security changes immediately before a planned withdrawal.
- Keep your own records of deposits and their sources, which makes any due-diligence question easy to answer.

Common questions
How long does a review take?
There is no published standard. A security cooldown typically ends after a set waiting period shown in the account; a compliance review depends on the case. Anyone promising a specific unlock time in a private message is not a support agent.
My withdrawal has a TxID but has not arrived. What now?
Check the TxID on a block explorer. If it is confirmed on-chain, the issue is at the receiving end — the destination exchange, wallet, or an incorrect address. If it is unconfirmed, the network is still processing it.
Can I cancel a withdrawal that is under review?
Sometimes, while it is still internal and before broadcast. The cancel option appears in the withdrawal record when it is available. Once a TxID exists, cancellation is not possible.
Does a review mean I did something wrong?
Not necessarily. Monitoring systems flag patterns, and a flag is the start of a check rather than a conclusion.
